Time to replace this unit after 24 years of near faultless service. The chassis has stood up to bracken, sags and grass (+ countless stones/rock), the motor finally succumbing to vibration. An excellent choice for an agile unit that gives a wide cut that can chew and spit bracken with ease.

This would have to be the longest-lasting, toughest and most easy-to-use utility mower I have ever owned. It is still operating after 35 years, although it has had one engine change in that time. It has a pressed steel base which, unlike cast aluminium, will not crack or shatter when it hits a rock. Also, construction is basic enough that it can be repaired by the home handyman or a service centre. It is for mowing grass rather than lawn, so don't expect it to produce a bowling green cut. The large cut diameter can ride over hollows in the ground but is very efficient for large naturally grassed areas. It has a large height adjustment but it works best when the pan is set no lower than 3-5 cm from the ground.
